About the Ensemble: Chamber Orchestra is a mixed group of instrumentalists consisting of student and community members and is open to all from high school to adult ages. The ensemble performs both traditional literature for small orchestra/chamber music from the 1600s through the 20th century as well as less traditional chamber orchestra styles such as jazz, contemporary classical, theater and film music. All instrumentalists interested in an eclectic mix of styles and time periods are encouraged to contact the instructor and join.

About the Director:Alison Gaines is the conductor of the Chamber Orchestra at COD, assistant conductor for Elmhurst Symphony and taught history, theory and aural skills at Rock Valley College for 10 years. Her master’s degree in Bass is from U.S.C. and she has experience as principal bassist for a full-time orchestra, is principal bassist with the Breckenridge, CO, Music Festival in the summer and free-lances throughout the Chicago area. She also holds a DMA in Conducting and has been music director and conductor of youth symphonies, public and private school orchestras, amateur and professional groups, the annual Breckenridge Brass Night concert and was interim conductor at Iowa State University.
